Gallery Late – ''Exhibition of Works by Designers Aina Ozoliņa and Auseklis Ozoliņš''
Opening hours
28.05.
18–22
Location
Kalnciema kvartāla galerija, Kalnciema iela 35

Aina Ozoliņa and Auseklis Ozoliņš are among the central couples in Latvia’s professional design landscape during the second half of the 20th century, under Soviet occupation, as well as among those who successfully navigated the transition of the early 1990s, continuing to work in their profession and remaining in demand when Latvia regained independence and rapidly shifted course from the construction of communism to wild capitalism. This exhibition is the first close exploration of the designers’ creative legacy — their projects and design thinking as part of Latvia’s cultural and historical heritage. Combined with the authors’ own memories and stories about the specifics of the creative process, it opens up a nuanced and deeply personal view of a time and era that has passed. On display will be project materials from the Ozoliņš private archive that have never before been shown publicly — drawings, sketches, conceptual drafts, and technical plans of individual design solutions.
Artists: Aina Ozoliņa and Auseklis Ozoliņš

About gallery
Kalnciema Quarter Gallery is an art and culture space located in the courtyard of the restored 19th-century wooden houses of Kalnciema Quarter, a culturally and historically significant neighbourhood in Riga. It is a place where contemporary art, tradition, and current movements meet, creating an environment for both local and international artists to exhibit their work and engage in dialogue with a wider public. The gallery’s exhibition programme covers a broad range of themes, from painting, sculpture, and graphic art to contemporary installation art and conceptual projects. The gallery not only showcases artworks, but also promotes the accessibility of art to a broader audience by regularly organising creative workshops, plein airs, masterclasses, and events that involve the local community. A distinctive tradition has emerged within the gallery’s activities — the annual Contemporary Ceramics Pop-Up, which every December brings together more than 20 Latvian ceramic artists in one place.
