Introduction to the Contemporary International Art Market
Lecture by Justė Jonutytė

What should you know before acquiring an artwork—whether for your home, office, or the beginning of a collection? How can you assess value and make informed decisions in a complex and fast-moving market? This lecture offers a clear and accessible introduction to the contemporary international art market, focusing on how artworks gain value and circulate across galleries, fairs, and collectors worldwide.

The talk will explore how to approach collecting with confidence, how to evaluate the long-term relevance of artworks, and where and how art is best acquired—from galleries and art fairs to direct engagement with artists. It will also touch on both private and corporate collections, offering insight into different strategies, motivations, and practical considerations behind collecting today.

Designed for both newcomers and those looking to deepen their understanding, the lecture provides practical frameworks and insider perspectives on navigating the global art market, while also reflecting on its local context.

A short networking reception will follow the lecture.

Entry: invitation-only
