Opening of the Contemporary Art exhibition “Peak”

The exhibition PEAK brings together works by Ilze Aulmane, Evija Ābrama, Ivars Grāvlejs, Elīna Mekša, and Klāvs Upaciers, exploring the limits of achievement and the concept of culmination in contemporary art. It reveals different paths toward the peak — both personal and symbolic. The idea of a peak is often associated with a journey, trials, hierarchy, ideological constructs, and potential growth in a modern context. In the exhibition, the peak can be viewed as a transformation of the structures of creative identity and relationships.  Perhaps, from the spiral perspectives of Hegel or Nietzsche, the stories in the exhibition PEAK are not singular heroic feats, but variations that can repeat in different contexts and identities. These variations are also revealed in the artists’ works: Ilze Aulmane offers interpretations of trophies, Ivars Grāvlejs grapples with television screens, Evija Ābrama existentially reflects on the allure of dreams, Klāvs Upaciers conveys encoded messages, and Elīna Mekša traces a continuous process of growth.  At the exhibition opening will be an opportunity to meet the artists. The opening program includes a performance by Ilze Aulmane, a performance by the collective PRO BISTRO, and DJ sets by BmwAudi, Otra PussyTe and dj verynice.

Šobrīd Kultūras centrā "Iļģuciems" darbojas vairāki amatiermākslas kolektīvi, Amatu nams ar lietišķās mākslas studijām. Kultūras centra telpās apskatāmas izstādes un regulāri notiek dažādi kultūras pasākumi.
