Riga Performance Art Festival STARPTELPA

The Riga Performance Art Festival “Starptelpa” is a significant event on the international art scene, annually gathering in Riga experienced and internationally recognized artists, curators, and scholars, while also dedicating a special place to emerging and promising talents in performance art. Now in its seventh year, the festival is the most ambitious of its kind in the Baltic States.
This year’s theme, “More Than Human,” focuses on the interaction between humans, nature, and the material world.

On May 27, at the Zuzeum Art Center, audiences will have the opportunity to witness performances by six promising artists.

• 18:30 Inese Bērziņa – I Go Wherever You Go (Latvia, 15 min)
• 19:00 Justīne Nora Žilde – The Carried One (Latvia, 40 min)
• 20:00 Laura Jasmane – A Fugue for Trying Really, Really Hard (Latvia, 30 min)
• 21:00 Katrīna Albuže – Obsessive Emergency (Latvia, 40 min) // 18+
• 22:00 Andris Freibergs – Lust in the Question (Latvia, 40 min) // 18+
• 23:00 Ernests Valts Circenis – Regarding the Materiality of Self (Latvia, 50 min) // not recommended for people with respiratory illnesses

The festival is organized by the Latvian Centre for Performance Art – a non-governmental organization that promotes performance art in Latvia by organizing art, educational, and cultural events, as well as conducting academic research.

Age and Other Restrictions:

• Katrīna Albuže and Andris Freibergs’ performances are 18+
• Ernests Valts Circenis’ performance is not recommended for people with respiratory illnesses
